Here is a color test that I did simply trying to improve upon my skills. The first is trying to go for a free form, but I still don't know what to think of it. The second gos back to my roots of the lines. I'm trying to decide which would be best to use.

Both are well done, however, The first one lacks contrast in the shadows. Why don't you test black/darker color addition to what it has, like between the arms and torso. A lighter gray also adds an interesting effect too.
As, for the 2nd one, you can try variations in the strokes, give more emphasis to the shape of its figure.
